Chennai: An unidentified man stole a two-sovereign gold chain and a mobile phone from an injured motorist after accompanying him to a hospital following an accident on the Pallavaram flyover.On Tuesday night, the injured man, Prem Kishore, 32, of Guduvanchery, closed his shop on Butt Road at St Thomas Mount, and was riding home via GST Road. His two-wheeler skidded on the Pallavaram flyover, leaving him injured.As passers-by came to his aid, a man arranged a 108 ambulance to take Kishore to Tambaram Government Hospital and informed his family about the accident.When Kishore’s relatives reached the hospital, they found that his two-sovereign gold chain and mobile phone, valued at around ₹25,000, were missing.Following a complaint, police began an inquiry and found that the man who accompanied Kishore had given a false name and phone number in the hospital records. Police suspect he stole the chain and phone while pretending to help the injured motorist.Police are examining CCTV footage from the hospital and nearby areas to identify and trace the suspect.
