Panaji: A potentially serious incident was narrowly avoided on the Mandovi river when the RoRo ferry Dwarka nearly collided with a traditional ferry as both exited simultaneously from the Ribandar side.Heavy rain had swollen the river, making manoeuvring difficult on the Chorao–Ribandar route.Witnesses said the vessels came dangerously close while leaving the ramp area. The situation worsened when two-wheeler riders parked motorcycles near the exit ramp. Commuters urged them to move inside the RoRo ferry.RND director Vikram Sinh Rajebhosale said heavy rolling due to the waves caused a propeller of the RoRo ferry to lift, spiking RPM and triggering the temporary shutdown of one of its two engines as a safety measure.
