Pune: The city is likely to witness light to moderate rainfall over the next few days, while the adjoining ghat areas are expected to continue receiving significantly heavier spells till July 24, said the latest forecast of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued on Wednesday evening.Heavy rainfall activity was expected to continue across parts of Maharashtra over the next few days, before rainfall gradually eases.The ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra were likely to see active rainfall. The ghats of Pune were expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places on July 23 and isolated places on July 24, with heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 25 and 26.Across the plains of Madhya Maharashtra, rainfall is expected to be less intense. Nashik district is likely to receive light to moderate rains at isolated places on July 23, while Pune district is forecast to receive light to moderate rainfall till July 24.The IMD’s district-wise forecast said Konkan districts were likely to receive the heaviest rainfall. Ratnagiri was expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places on July 23, followed by heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 24-25. Sindhudurg was likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 23 and 24.Among the northern Konkan districts, Palghar could receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places on July 23, with heavy rainfall continuing at isolated places on July 24. Thane was likely to receive heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 23 and 24, while Mumbai was expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on July 23 before rainfall becomes moderate.
