Plaint for earring theft, lens on maid

Kolkata: A resident of Aurobindo Sarani has filed a complaint with the Shyampukur Police Station following the theft of a pair of gold earrings, weighing around three grams, from her bedroom. The complainant, Panchali Basu (Roychowdhury), residing in Aurobindo Sarani in Kolkata, said that she took out her jewellery box on Wednesday, July 15 to prepare for an upcoming wedding. According to the complaint, the theft occurred during her absence on either July 16, or July 17, while she was away from her residence. In her written complaint to police, Basu raised suspicion against a temporary cleaning maid, Shasti Pal, a resident of Durga Charan Mitra Street. Pal had been hired for a few days through an agency centre run by Nupur Roy Banerjee to clean the rooms between 9 am and 2 pm.Basu noted that while other full-time and part-time domestic workers and cooks have been employed at her house for an extended period without prior incident, Pal was the sole individual who cleaned her bedroom during her absence on those specific dates.Upon discovering that the earrings were missing, Basu contacted Banerjee, who came to the residence to confront Pal. The suspect denied the allegations and expressed a desire to leave immediately. However, Banerjee instructed her to finish her assigned household duties before departing. The police have noted the provided contact and address details of both the agency owner and the suspect, and initiated an investigation into the matter to take necessary legal action.
