Mapusa: Persistent barking by a family pet and neighbourhood dogs foiled a house robbery attempt at Siolim-Marna early Tuesday, alerting the residents and forcing two suspects to flee. The suspects were later caught by local youths and handed over to Anjuna police.The suspects allegedly attempted to enter Catrina D’Cunha’s house through the rear entrance and balcony doors between 1.30am and 2am. They also tried to redirect an external CCTV camera to avoid detection.However, the camera’s sensor sent an alert to D’Cunha’s cellphone, while the dogs’ persistent barking woke the household. The suspects fled, but local youths and panchayat member William Fernandes chased and caught them near a local school.An iron rod, screwdriver and black bag were recovered from their possession.PSI Navneet Goltekar and his team at Anjuna police station have launched a further investigation.
