New Delhi: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), in an overnight cleanliness drive at Jantar Mantar and its adjoining areas, removed nearly 60 metric tonnes of waste after the protesters dispersed.Over 500 officers and employees were sent out for the task. NDMC said the operation covered Jantar Mantar, Tolstoy Road, Sansad Marg, Jai Singh Road, Janpath and the surrounding areas of Connaught Place. The civic body said the drive was aimed at restoring the public space and ensuring the smooth resumption of traffic and public movement.The health and sanitation, civil engineering and horticulture departments coordinated the operation.

NDMC said 75 sanitation workers worked overnight, and another 35 joined them on Sunday morning. The waste removal exercise was carried out using eight auto-tippers, two heavy trucks, one JCB and three high-pressure jetting machines.The the civil engineering department deployed about 50 workers to clean roads and footpaths using four jetting machines. They removed slogans from walls, which were repainted. The workers also repaired damaged kerbstones and footpaths.The horticulture department restored the green belts, central verges and landscaped areas.
