Ahmedabad sees two-degree rise in temperature in 24 hours

Ahmedabad: Compared to maximum temperature of 34°C in the city on Tuesday, the mercury showed 36°C on Wednesday, a rise of two degrees in 24 hours. It was 3.3 degrees higher compared to normal temperature. At 26.2°C, the minimum temperature, too, was 1.3 degrees higher than normal.The citizens experienced partly cloudy weather and high humidity that added to the hot and humid feeling, leaving them drenched in sweat throughout the afternoon.According to India Meteorological Department forecast, conditions will remain oppressive for the next 24 hours across most districts.Some relief is expected on Sep 12 and 13 when light to moderate rain is expected in several parts of the state, bringing down temperatures slightly. Local weather officials noted that overcast conditions without adequate precipitation have significantly elevated heat discomfort levels in urban pockets, driving up indoor cooling demands ahead of the forecasted rainfall activity.
