Delhi trader gets extortion threat from gangster Goldy Brar, Rs 5 crore demanded

NEW DELHI: A Delhi-based businessman has alleged that he received a voice note claiming to be from foreign-based gangster Goldy Brar, demanding Rs 5 crore as extortion. Following the complaint, police have registered a case and launched an investigation, officials said on Sunday according to news agency PTI. According to police sources, the businessman, who owns a restaurant in the Punjabi Bagh area, approached the local police station after receiving the alleged threat. The complainant told police that the sender of the voice note identified himself as Goldy Brar, demanded Rs 5 crore, and warned of serious consequences if the money was not paid. A police source said a case has been registered at Punjabi Bagh police station. Investigators are currently working to verify the authenticity of the voice note and trace its origin. Police have also initiated technical surveillance to determine whether the threat was issued from abroad or routed through internet-based communication platforms. (With Agency Inputs)
