Panaji: Credai-Goa has pushed for reforms to the state’s town and country planning (TCP) rules to encourage planned development and green buildings, while also lobbying for faster project approvals and simpler environmental clearances. It said that it has initiated preliminary discussions with state authorities to launch a Goa-specific version of its national tree-plantation initiative.The apex body of the state’s organised real estate developers has submitted a series of policy recommendations to Goa govt over the past year aimed at reforming the TCP framework and simplifying project approval timelines and environmental clearance processes.Credai-Goa president Rajesh Sheth also called on real estate developers to pledge to plant 30 native trees for every home constructed. The homebuyers will be issued a green home certificate and a digital tree passport to track the growth of trees planted in their name.He said discussions had already begun with govt authorities to introduce a ‘Green Bharat-Goa Mission’, which would make Goa one of the first states to adopt the initiative, though no timeline or formal commitment was announced.The industry body said it wants to create a more “transparent and accountable real estate ecosystem” in Goa. It said policy decisions should reflect both the developmental aspirations of the state and the practical realities of project execution. Sheth said Credai has regular interactions with govt departments to promote ease of doing business, enhance investor confidence and support initiatives that contribute to Goa’s long-term economic growth.
