Pune: The Ambegaon police on Wednesday registered a case against 22 people, including seven builders, developers and their partners, for allegedly cheating govt by registering 22 property sale deeds using forged PMRDA and PMC development-related documents.The FIR was registered based on a complaint filed by Ravindra Namdev Koli (46), sub-registrar of Haveli Number 20 office at Dattanagar in Ambegaon.Senior inspector Sharad Zine of the Ambegaon police said the case began with a complaint filed in March 2026 by Dadasaheb Gaikwad, founder-president of the Rayat Maharashtra General Kamgar Sanghatana, alleging that several builders registered sale deeds using forged approval documents purportedly issued by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) and the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).“Following the complaint, PMRDA and PMC officials verified the documents submitted with the sale deeds. The scrutiny revealed that PMRDA development permissions, commencement certificates, occupancy certificates and PMC commencement certificates attached to 22 registered sale deeds were forged,” Zine told TOI.According to the FIR, the accused developers, builders and their partners allegedly used forged documents to facilitate property sales and register sale deeds, thereby cheating govt. “The investigation is ongoing and additional cases may be registered if more forged documents or similar transactions come to light. Such cases could either be included in the existing FIR or registered separately,” the officer said.Meanwhile, officials from the state registration department have sought a detailed investigation into suspected fake sale deeds and other property-related documents to determine the extent of the alleged fraud.
