* A special court on Monday granted bail to senior inspector Sanjeev Tawde of Kurar police station who was arrested last week while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from an advocate. According to the 35-year-old complainant, an applicant had filed a financial fraud complaint against him, while his transgender brother had lodged a complaint alleging sexual exploitation. 150 RSMumbai: The Andheri police a man for allegedly cheating a 80-year-old Andheri East resident by promising to make him a partner in running a toll plaza in Navi Mumbai and collected Rs 65 lakh from him. However, the accused neither made him a partner in the toll plaza nor returned the money. The complainant in the FIR said xthat he was well known in the Chakala and Andheri East areas, and many people used to contact him regarding the sale and purchase of land and flats. In 2000, the accused contacted him to inquire about purchasing properties. “They later became friends and started visiting each other’s homes. The accused office was located in Thane East, and the complainant frequently visited him there. In 2014, the accused told complainant that he had contacts in Mantralaya and would receive a contract to run the Vashi toll naka in Navi Mumbai,” said the police.

Believing the accused the complainant gave the money between 2014 and 2019. However due to COVID the accused kept delaying and started giving excuses.Finally the complainant filed the case. Andheri police are probing the case and are yet to make arrest.
