MUMBAI: Nashik and Mumbai Suburban districts have recorded the widest gap between male and female voters in Maharashtra’s draft electoral roll after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), while Ratnagiri stands out as the only district where women have outnumbered men.Maharashtra’s draft electoral roll released after the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) shows a gap of more than 20 lakh between male and female voters, with Mumbai Suburban and Nashik recording the widest gender differences among districts. Ratnagiri is the only district where women outnumber men, according to data released by the Chief Electoral Officer on Monday.The draft roll has 7.71 crore electors across Maharashtra’s 36 districts and 288 assembly constituencies. It includes 3.95 crore male voters, 3.75 crore female voters and 3,087 third-gender electors, news agency PTI reported.
Nashik, Mumbai Suburban show widest voter gap
Nashik has 21.09 lakh male voters compared with 19.6 lakh female voters, a difference of 1.41 lakh.Mumbai Suburban has 26.51 lakh male voters and 25.2 lakh female voters , leaving a gap of 1.31 lakh .The difference is much narrower in some other districts. Nagpur has 15.99 lakh male voters against 15lakh female voters, a gap of only 4,321.Sindhudurg has 3.05 lakh male voters and 2.9 lakh female voters, with a difference of 6,015.
Ratnagiri bucks Maharashtra trend
Ratnagiri is the only district where female voters outnumber male voters.The district has 6.09 lakh women voters compared with 5.87 lakh men, giving women a lead of 22,188.
Pune has highest number of electors
Pune has the largest electorate among Maharashtra’s districts, with 62.13 lakh voters. Of these, 31.51 lakh are men and 30.62 lakh are women.Mumbai Suburban follows with 51.71 lakh electors.
How to add name or correct details
Eligible voters whose names are missing from the draft electoral roll can file claims and objections between August 31 and September 30, according to the CEO’s office.Voters can seek inclusion by submitting Form 6 along with the required declaration. Objections to an entry can be filed through Form 7, while corrections to details such as name, address, age or gender can be sought through Form 8.(With agency inputs)
