Gandhinagar: The 72nd National Film Awards ceremony will be held at Ektanagar, the site of the world’s tallest statue, on Sep 22, the state govt said on Monday. This will be the first time in the seven-decade history of the prestigious ceremony that it will be held outside Delhi, the state govt said.The ceremony, being organised by Union ministry of information and broadcasting, will see 92 award winners from the Indian film industry felicitated. President Droupadi Murmu is expected to present the awards during the ceremony.An official statement said a special aluminium structural dome will be erected at Statue of Unity bus bay area for the ceremony. The venue will have a seating capacity for around 1,000 guests, besides arrangements for security, protocol and other logistical requirements. Narmada district officials on Monday held a meeting to review arrangements, including security, protocol, movement of dignitaries, venue management and other preparations.The state govt said that the hosting of National Film Awards is a significant achievement for Gujarat and Narmada district, with officials expecting the event to further enhance Ektanagar’s visibility as a national and international tourism destination.
