New Delhi: Nearly 63 lakh enumeration forms have been filled, returned and verified under Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of the electoral rolls in the city. According to the SIR report dated July 24, the digitisation of the returned forms has crossed the 40% mark.The report showed that enumeration forms were distributed to 1,44,87,155 of Delhi’s 1,45,10,298 electors, taking the distribution rate to 99.8%. Of them, 62,95,790 forms have been digitised, accounting for 43.4% of the electorate.Among the districts, Outer North has recorded the highest digitisation rate at 55.6%, followed by South West (51.5%), West (47.8%), North West (47.1%) and Central North (46.6%). South East reported the lowest digitisation rate at 27.6%, while East stood at 33.3% and South at 34.2%.“The digitisation of enumeration forms is picking up pace. We are expecting that the number will increase significantly during the weekend,” said an official.The enumeration phase began on June 30 and will continue till Aug 8. During this period, booth level officers (BLOs) are distributing pre-printed enumeration forms carrying voters’ details, which electors must verify, update if required, sign and return. After verifying the information, BLOs map the voters and the forms are digitised. Voters successfully verified during the exercise will be included in the draft and final electoral rolls without having to submit additional documents. The draft roll will be published on Aug 17 and the final roll on Oct 19.Election Commission of India has appointed four senior IAS officers of Delhi govt as electoral roll observers to supervise the revision process, review field-level progress, address procedural issues and ensure that the exercise is carried out uniformly, transparently and in accordance with the poll panel’s guidelines for the preparation of accurate electoral rolls. Each officer has been assigned specific districts and scheduled to conduct three rounds of visits during the revision process.The observers are K Mahesh, secretary (art, culture and language); Pandurang K Pole, secretary-cum-commissioner (labour); Rashmi Singh, secretary (women and child development); and Yashpal Garg, secretary (planning).An official said the observers would make their first visit between Aug 17 and Sept 16, during the period of receiving claims and objections. The second visit will take place between Sept 17 and Oct 15 to oversee the disposal of claims and objections by electoral registration officers. Their final visit is scheduled on Oct 19, when they will supervise verification of the working copy by BLOs, printing of supplements and publication of the final electoral roll.
