Ahmedabad: A 22-year-old woman from Jamalpur has approached Gaekwad Haveli police alleging that her husband’s former girlfriend has been harassing the couple, especially her husband, online and attempting to tarnish his reputation.The woman lodged a complaint on Monday, alleging that the accused created multiple Instagram accounts using her husband’s photographs and posted objectionable content. She also alleged that morphed images of her husband with his former girlfriend were uploaded on social media.According to the complaint, the woman and her husband had known each other for around nine years and registered their marriage on Aug 11. After their marriage, her husband allegedly told her that he had been in a relationship with another woman for around two years, but had ended it before marrying her.The complainant alleged that the former girlfriend had pressured her husband to marry her.The woman alleged that on July 17, she noticed activity on several Instagram accounts carrying names and references related to her husband and his former girlfriend. The accounts allegedly posted photographs of her husband.She further alleged that abusive comments were posted on her Instagram account. The accused allegedly used AI to remove the complainant from photos and insert her image alongside the man.The complainant alleged that the altered photographs were subsequently uploaded as Instagram stories with the intention of damaging her husband’s reputation.She also alleged that the accused obtained mobile numbers of her family members and sent them messages on WhatsApp containing false information. The woman claimed the online activity had caused harassment to her and her family.Gaekwad Haveli police have registered a complaint against the person behind the four Instagram accounts and launched an investigation. Police began examining the social media accounts, messages and digital evidence to establish who operated the accounts and whether the alleged morphed images and messages originated from the same person.
