Pune: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the “DJ issue” will be curbed through public participation instead of enforcing the law and expressed confidence that the upcoming Ganesh festival of Pune will be celebrated in a traditional manner.Fadnavis was in Pune to attend a couple of events where on the sidelines of those events, he discussed the issue of growing demand by citizens to ban DJs and loudspeakers during festivals. “During my discussion with the Pune police commissioner, he said that there is a consent by stakeholders to curb the use of DJs during the festival. If the festival is celebrated more in a traditional way, it will add more value and enjoyment,” he said.Fadnavis insisted that instead of introducing the policy to ban DJs, the issue can be resolved through public awareness. He said, “Over the years, some practices of celebrations have been adopted. While enforcing a law is needed, taking people into confidence is also important to curb those practices.”“The policy by the state in this regard can not be formulated with immediate effect. My experience says that maximum solutions are found through discussions. Once we gain the confidence of people and 90-95% people give consent, the govt can introduce a rule,” the chief minister added.
