A total of 21 accused have been arrested so far

Mira Road: The Mira Bhayander-Vasai Virar crime branch, probing a drug network operating from Nalasopara, has raided a mephedrone (MD) manufacturing unit in Manda in Prayagraj district, Uttar Pradesh, and recovered 52kg of the party drug.Police commissioner Niket Kaushik said the manufacturing unit in UP had been operating for the past six months and the accused had allegedly sold around 300kg of MD during this period.In June, Tulinj police arrested two men for allegedly selling MD. The probe was later transferred to Crime Branch Unit 4. A team led by senior inspector Pramod Badakh traced the drug network and found that the accused were operating manufacturing units in Gujarat and UP. But before police could raid the Gujarat unit, the accused allegedly dismantled it.So far, 21 people have been arrested and 69.8kg of mephedrone worth around Rs 139 crore seized in the case.One of the arrested accused is Mohammad Haseeb Siddiqui alias Ejaz Merchant (36), an engineer with a BE degree, who was allegedly involved in supplying MD in Mumbai, said senior inspector Badakh.
