Margao: The opposition on Saturday launched a scathing attack on BJP govt over the Porvorim casino firing incident, questioning the collapse of law and order and alleged leaks in the investigation.State Congress’ media & communication department chairperson Amarnath Panjikar wanted to know who was leaking CCTV footage and investigation details to the media even as the DGP maintained that details could not be disclosed as it could compromise the probe. “Who has access to this material, and who authorised its circulation?” he asked, also questioning why the shootout scene was not immediately secured despite Porvorim police station being just metres away.Panjikar said chief minister Pramod Sawant’s assurance that “strict action will be taken and nobody will be spared” was no longer sufficient, and demanded that the CM and DGP answer whether the investigation had been compromised.State Congress president Girish Chodankar alleged that casinos are BJP’s sponsors, yet even casino operators are not safe from firing incidents. He also flagged a security lapse during AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge’s Goa visit, asserting that the state’s law and order has collapsed.Meanwhile, AAP Goa president Valmiki Naik said the CM had become a “crime minister” and accused BJP of turning Goa into a “prime destination for criminals”. He alleged Sawant, who also holds the home portfolio, had abdicated responsibility, pointing out that the shootout occurred right in front of North Goa police headquarters, just ahead of the assembly session.
