Bengal to be Flipkart’s eastern hub; e-tailer logs 20% growth this year
Flipkart is partnering with the Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development to equip local youth with industry-relevant warehousing and supply chain skills, Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said.

Kolkata: Bengal will be the hub of operations for e-commerce major Flipkart to cater to eastern India and the northeast, with the company set to make a significant investment to ramp up its supply chain infrastructure in the state, which houses its largest fulfilment centre. The e-commerce marketplace recorded a 20% year-on-year business growth this year compared to 2025.Apart from boosting supply chain infrastructure, the company’s investment will target technology upgrades and the seller ecosystem in the state.The company is also partnering with the Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development to equip local youth with industry-relevant warehousing and supply chain skills, Flipkart Group CEO Kalyan Krishnamurthy said.The Haringhata fulfilment centre, equipped with automated storage and retrieval systems, robotic packaging, cross-belt sorters and a 9 km conveyor network, is the company’s largest facility in the country. Beyond Haringhata, the company has built its digital commerce supply chain with 300 fulfilment centres, mother hubs and last-mile delivery facilities across Bengal.“Bengal has long been one of India’s great centres of enterprise, innovation and craftsmanship. Today, it is also emerging as a key hub for digital commerce. Our investments in infrastructure, technology and supply chains are creating jobs, empowering MSMEs, supporting farmers and enabling thousands of entrepreneurs to access markets across the country,” Krishnamurthy said.More than 66,000 sellers from Bengal, including MSMEs, artisans and weavers, are reaching customers across India through the platform.Through Flipkart Samarth, nearly 29,000 products from the state’s weavers and craftspeople are showcased on a dedicated storefront, helping preserve Bengal’s rich artisanal heritage while creating national market access, according to the CEO. “In Shantipur alone, more than 250 Tant and Jamdani weavers and sellers now reach customers across India, generating annual sales of over Rs 100 crore,” he said.
