1 dead after falling from Dahi Handi pyramid, 11 injured in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai: A 34-year-old man identified as Swapnil Navar, a resident of Ghansoli, died after falling from a Dahi Handi pyramid in Sainathwadi, Airoli.Meanwhile, a 14-year-old boy identified as Avdesh Gupta fractured his hand after falling from the pyramid at Juhugaon. His family later shifted him to a private hospital for further treatment. In Vashi, 10 women were injured while breaking dahi handi in Vashi. They were rushed to NMMC hospital, Vashi, for treatment.Dr Ravindra Mhatre, NMMC’s medical superintendent, said, “The 10 injured women from the Dahi Handi group from Juinagar were admitted and their CT scan and chest X-ray along with other medical tests were conducted. Only after it is confirmed that they have not sustained major injuries and after proper treatment, they will be discharged.”
