Content creator Apoorva Makhija opened up about one of the most difficult chapters of her life while speaking on Lock Upp Season 2. Looking back at the aftermath of the India’s Got Latent controversy, she revealed that she had struggled with suicidal thoughts and said fellow creator Sufi Motiwala was the one person who stood by her during that period.During an emotional conversation with Sufi on the reality show, Apoorva shared that his friendship became her biggest source of strength when she was dealing with the fallout from the controversy.Overcome with emotion after reuniting with him, Apoorva said, “I have really missed you. Don’t do this again; I am starting to cry. Every time someone asks me about you and says, ‘How were you friends with him? He’s so mean,’ I tell them… I would’ve killed myself if, at the time of the Latent fiasco, I hadn’t had Sufi,” she said.Sufi quickly interrupted her, saying, “Don’t say that.”Apoorva went on to explain how important his presence had been in helping her navigate that phase of her life.“I wouldn’t have been able to get through that. You were the only person with me. I wasn’t dating anyone. Personally, in my life, as a friend,” she added.Sufi also reflected on their bond, describing the period they spent together as one of the happiest times in his life. He shared that their friendship had given him a sense of belonging in Mumbai.“I will tell you the truth, bro. That one year was the most favourite year of my life when we were friends. I finally felt like I had a social circle in Bombay. I felt like there was someone I could go to whenever I wanted. And I genuinely missed you a lot,” he said. The heartfelt conversation concluded with both creators apologising to each other for the misunderstandings that had affected their friendship.Apoorva said, “I am also really sorry. I know those little, little things can hurt a lot. And I am sorry for not creating that safe space for you when you needed it the most.”For those unfamiliar with the incident, Apoorva Makhija became embroiled in the controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent, the YouTube comedy show hosted by influencer Samay Raina, last year.
