Hybrid ganja worth ₹12 lakh seized from Ghuma house, one arrested

Ahmedabad: Police recovered 331g of hybrid ganja valued at Rs 12 lakh from a house in Ghuma in the early hours of Wednesday and arrested a 31-year-old man. Ahmedabad Rural Special Operations Group (SOG) identified the man as Raju Sapra from Surendranagar’s Korani village, currently living in a colony near Ghuma bridge.Police said SOG received a tip-off on Monday night. After completing mandatory procedures under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a team carried out the raid along with govt witnesses, videographers and forensic experts. Officers recovered multiple packets of hybrid ganja hidden in a wooden cupboard in one of the bedrooms and another packet from the accused’s trouser pocket. Two mobile phones, two electronic weighing scales and Rs 2,006 in cash were also seized.A forensic officer carried out an examination at the spot using a narcotics testing kit. The test confirmed that the seized substance was cannabis.During interrogation, Sapra told police that an unidentified man from Vadodara supplied him with the consignment at CTM crossroads about 10 days ago. He said he planned to consume some of it and sell the rest in small quantities. Based on the mobile phone number provided by Sapra, police have included the supplier, whose identity is yet to be established, in the FIR.The FIR was registered at Bopal police station under the NDPS Act. Police are looking for the alleged supplier, trace the supplier and identify others linked to the network.
