Ahmedabad: A Vastrapur police team arrested a man and detained a minor boy at a mall in Vastrapur for allegedly harassing a woman. The 21-year-old woman on Monday filed a complaint against the 25-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy who, she alleged, followed her around the mall and even approached her asking for her Instagram ID and phone number.Inspector G M Chaudhary said the woman was at a salon in the mall on Sunday evening when she noticed the two staring at her. They then followed her as she shopped at stores. They allegedly approached her for her Instagram ID and phone number to remain in touch, the officer said. In her complaint, the woman said the two continued to follow her even after she explicitly told them she did not like their gesture. With the duo refusing to back off, the woman informed a security guard, who called the police control room. Cops from the Vastrapur station were soon at the mall. An officer said the ordeal, which continued for over an hour, left the complainant traumatised.The officer added that police will check the mall’s CCTV footage to substantiate the offence and run a background check on the two to see if they were involved in similar cases earlier. Parents of the minor boy were informed. The man will be released on bail, the officer said.
