Woman stranded in Tungareshwar stream for 3 hours rescued by Pelhar police

Vasai: A woman who remained stranded for nearly three hours in a rain-swollen stream at the popular Tungareshwar tourist spot in Vasai was rescued by Pelhar police on Sunday evening, averting a potential tragedy.According to the police, constables Satish Giri and Suyash Mane were on patrol near the Tungareshwar temple at around 4.30 pm when they received information that a woman was trapped in the third stream in the area. She wasstranded for nearly three hours as the water level and current rosesharply following heavy rainfall.Her family members weretrying to pull her to safety but were unable to do so because of the strong flow of water. On reaching the spot, the two policemen, with the assistance of the woman’s relatives and a local resident, launched a rescue operation and safely brought her out of the stream.Police said the woman visited Tungareshwar with her family for an outing when she got stranded after the stream swelled due to incessant rain. Their timely intervention helped avert a major mishap.
