Chennai: VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan on Sunday blamed DMK’s handling of its allies for the debacle and the subsequent disintegration of the alliance.“If DMK had promised a share in power, allotted more seats to alliance parties and accommodated their seat preferences, it would not have suffered such a setback in the election,” he said at a party event in Tiruvannamalai. “More importantly, the alliance parties would not have left DMK so quickly,” he said.At another event in Dharmapuri, Thirumavalavan took a dig at the Dravidian party for inducting former VCK MLA Panaiyur Babu. “It was done to weaken our party,’’ he said, adding that even if some VCK functionaries had voluntarily approached DMK, they should have been turned away. “That is political ethics,’” he said.Rejecting the criticism that VCK had betrayed DMK, Thirumavalavan said such attacks were an attempt to drive a wedge between DMK and VCK. “Some are trying to position VCK against DMK and even against TVK by misrepresenting my remarks. If ministerial posts were important to us, we would not criticise the govt,” he said.Thirumavalavan also said people should be wary of ‘We The Leaders’ president K Annamalai. “He was trained in RSS camps and cannot speak the politics of Periyar or the Left. If he grows politically, Tamil Nadu could face the fate of Delhi under Arvind Kejriwal or West Bengal under Mamata Banerjee. The BJP helped dislodge the Congress in those states and later emerged as the principal challenger and power contender,” he said.
