Mapusa: A public passenger shed in Purva ward in the Kasarvarne panchayat has been turned into a garbage dump, triggering outrage among residents and commuters. The bus stop, located in a ward represented by deputy sarpanch Sakshi Naik, is strewn with trash, with waste dumped directly on the seating area. With the rain, the rotting garbage has created a strong stench and heightened fears of vector-borne diseases. Commuters are now forced to wait on the main road.Residents, Shamba Warang and former sarpanch Sheva Garang, blamed the panchayat administration and the garbage collection contractor for poor management.Although waste clearance has been outsourced, locals allege there is no oversight, resulting in irregular garbage pickup.Sources said a previous police inquiry had found local tenants were dumping waste at the spot. Warning signboards and CCTV cameras were later installed, but both reportedly disappeared within days.
