Panaji: Former minister and Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar, who left Goa Forward Party and joined BJP ahead of the 2022 assembly election, resigned from the party on Friday and announced his decision to contest the 2027 assembly election.Salgaonkar, who lost the 2022 election, said he took the decision after meeting chief minister Pramod Sawant and BJP state president Damodar Naik. He is likely to join Congress, but said the decision on which party he would contest from would be taken in consultation with his supporters.“I have left BJP because our work was not done and some people have been sidelined in the party,” Salgaonkar said. “In due course of time, we will decide which party to join. I have not contacted any party to join.”Salgaonkar said he would begin his campaign and undertake a door-to-door outreach programme. He added that his supporters would decide which party’s ticket he should contest on in the 2027 election.
