Bhagwat didn’t refer to India-Pak political diplomacy, says RSS top functionary
RSS’s Sunil Ambekar participated in an event organised by Pune Union of Working Journalists on Wednesday

Pune: RSS’s publicity in-charge Sunil Ambekar on Wednesday said that the organisation’s chief Mohan Bhagwat meant people-to-people talks between the two countries when he said doors need to be kept open for dialogue with Pakistan.Ambekar was in Pune for an event organised by Pune Union of Working Journalists. He said, “The statement by the RSS chief is not related to political diplomacy. Dialogues between India and Pakistan so far have been between two govts, armies and other agencies. Since all these dialogues failed, we have lost hope.”He added that the RSS chief emphasised the need for people of both countries to connect through medical tourism and trade and revive good memories.Bhagwat during a recent event advocated dialogue between India and Pakistan saying that Indians do not have the mentality of dictators. The opposition reacted to his statement.Ambekar said, “The Indian govt having a dialogue with Pakistan is considered hard diplomacy. These dialogues include many sensitive issues. Nobody needs to take a public stand on them. RSS will directly share its opinion with the govt.”On Karnataka govt’s letter seeking to know the legal status of RSS, Ambekar said, “Some people are creating controversies for political benefits. RSS is not interested in them. We are a recognised organisation working for social welfare for 100 years. We continue to work on the ground but no one has asked for our registration.”
