Nalasopara: A 31-year-old accused, who was arrested in Nalasopara by a team from Bengaluru City Police in connection with drug and cheating cases, allegedly attacked a police officer and escaped from a hotel in Nalasopara on Saturday night.The accused, identified as Vikas Yadav, was arrested with the help of Nalasopara police. He was produced before Vasai court on Saturday, following which the police obtained his transit remand to take him to Bengaluru. The police team was scheduled to travel to Bengaluru by train later that night.Police officer Venkatesha Chowdayya of Bengaluru City Police station and two other personnel had accompanied Yadav. While the two personnel had gone out for some work, Chowdayya stayed with the accused at room number 203 of Galaxy Hotel in Nalasopara West.While preparations were being made to take Yadav to Bengaluru, he allegedly attacked Chowdayya, locked him inside the room and fled from the hotel. A case has been registered at Nalasopara police station in connection with the incident. Police have launched a search for Yadav.“Efforts are on to trace the accused and he will be arrested soon,” said Vishal Walvi, senior police inspector of Nalasopara police station.
