Ahmedabad: City police have registered a complaint by a 20-year-old BCom student who alleged that a college acquaintance raped her repeatedly after promising marriage, then blackmailed her into stealing family jewellery.The woman said she met the accused at college in December 2025 and they began speaking after exchanging numbers. He allegedly claimed both families knew of the relationship and they would marry. On March 25, 2026, he allegedly took her to a hotel near a hospital in Nikol and forced himself on her. She said he later raped her repeatedly at hotels in the area.Inspector S A Desai said the accused claimed his father had suffered losses in the textile business and pressured her for money. When she refused, he allegedly threatened to circulate intimate photos and videos. Fearing exposure, she took gold ornaments weighing 144 grams, worth about Rs 14.4 lakh, from a family locker and gave them to him between June and Aug. The case is being investigated by Nikol police.
