NEW DELHI: Nearly one in three registered voters of Delhi have been struck off the draft Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral roll which was published by Election Commission Monday morning.The draft rolls include the names of 97,53,577 voters while names of 47,56,722 among 1.45 crore registered voters are missing from the SIR rolls because they failed to submit their voter details during the one and a half month long voters verification exercise conducted across 70 assembly constituencies of the capital.Election officials said many voters were not found at their registered addresses, while others had shifted within Delhi or moved out of the city.According to figures released by the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer, enumeration forms of 67.2% of Delhi’s electorate were submitted and digitised. The remaining 32.8% were categorised as Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and Others (ASDDO).TOI on July 26 reported that around 20% of the registered voters were not found at their addresses during the door to door verification, and on August 18 it reported that nearly one in three voters of Delhi were likely to be struck off the draft electoral roll.Election Commission figures as on August 31 show that 67.2% of Delhi’s 1,45,10,299 (around 97.5 lakh) registered voters were verified. The remaining 47.5 lakh voters were marked “uncollectable” and categorised as ASDDO voters.Voters whose names are missing from the draft roll will be able to file claims and objections between Aug 31 and Sept 30. During this period, officials will closely examine the claims for inclusion in the electoral roll, while booth-level officers (BLOs) will conduct field visits to verify them. Once the details are found to be in order, the voters’ names will be included in the final SIR electoral roll, scheduled to be published on Nov 4.The SIR exercise was launched on June 30 to update Delhi’s electoral rolls and remove ineligible entries. Originally scheduled to conclude on July 29, it was extended three times. During the exercise, around 13,000 BLOs distributed enumeration forms across all 13 districts, according to Delhi chief electoral officer’s office.Details regarding the assembly wise distribution of the names of deleted voters are awaited.
