Margao: Congress on Wednesday condemned the protest by BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) workers near Dabolim airport during the arrival of AICC president and Rajya Sabha leader of opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, alleging the demonstration breached security arrangements.Congress alleged that BJYM protesters crossed barricades, entered the roadway and used loudspeakers while Kharge’s convoy was passing through the area. The party said the actions could have compromised the security of the convoy and endangered others travelling with it.The Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) said it has filed a formal complaint seeking action against those responsible and asked why an FIR has not been registered despite what it described as a serious security protocol violation.GPCC spokesperson Amit Palekar sought an explanation from the police on how the protest was allowed in the immediate vicinity of a high-security convoy, calling for uniform enforcement of security norms without political considerations.Goa Pradesh Youth Congress president Archit Naik condemned the incident, saying political differences cannot justify acts that may endanger anyone’s safety, and demanded an impartial investigation and strict action against those found to have violated security arrangements.Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress president Pratiksha Khalap and Seva Dal chief Rajen Ghate supported the demand for accountability and strict enforcement of security protocols.Congress said peaceful protest was a democratic right but that it must be exercised responsibly and cannot be used to breach security arrangements or endanger public safety.
