Panaji: RG accused its lone MLA Viresh Borkar of doing nothing to mend the schism and restore unity within the party cadre. RG treasurer Ajay Kholkar on Thursday said that it was Borkar who created a separate faction within the party.“He does not want to solve anything. He says that he is protesting,” said Kholkar. “It is Viresh who has made a separate group. The party is intact, all of us are together and our work is going on. RG as a party is still alive and it is only Viresh who has made a separate group.”Borkar and the party’s central executive committee (CEC) have been at loggerheads for months, a turmoil that led party founder and president Manoj Parab to quit the party and active politics. Since then, the CEC has repeatedly invited Borkar to attend meetings and resolve the rift that has divided the party. While Borkar claims that the CEC is not ready to respond to his concerns, Kholkar said that Borkar is the one supporting party rebels.“We have given him five reminders after the show-cause notice. He should end his protest and come forward to take our party ahead. He is moving about with the party members who were expelled from the party and who have filed complaints against the party and even sent a defamation notice of Rs 1 crore. I don’t know how I have defamed anyone,” said Kholkar. The treasurer said that Borkar has made it a habit to tell lies. He brushed aside allegations that donations received by the party were misused. “We have filed our audits, our accounts are proper,” said Kholkar. He said that RG is ready to hold elections to pick a new party president.
