Chennai: A 29-year-old local Kabaddi coach, who had been absconding for nearly three weeks, was arrested by the Semmancheri police in Kodaikanal in connection with the sexual assault case of a 17-year-old girl.The accused, identified as Raji ,29, who runs a kabbadi club, had been evading police arrest since the Semmancheri All Women Police Station (AWPS) booked him under the POCSO Act.In June, teammates of the trainee noticed a sudden change in her behaviour and visible discomfort, police said. The survivor, who had lost both her parents, was residing with her grandmother. Taking advantage of the grandmother’s brief absence from the house, the coach sexually assaulted her at her residence, police said. Based on the complaints, the Semmancheri AWPS registered an FIR against the coach on the charges of sexual assault and aggravated sexual assault.
