Ponda: Irked with irregular water supply, residents of Aframento Shirshire ward of Borim village gheraoed officials of the drinking water department at Daag-Ponda on Thursday. The villagers were annoyed as the water supply woes continued despite them having agitated and confronted the official about a month ago.In early June, the villagers had confronted the assistant engineer of the drinking water department Kashinath Saraf at his Daag-Ponda office and he had assured them that the supply would be normal. However, the problem of irregular supply persists even after a month, said a villager from Shirshire.Pradeep Borkar, a resident of Aframento Shirshire, said the areas including Shirshire, Aframento, Varcha wada and Khalchawada wada, face water scarcity. He said after last month’s agitation, the official had taken up the corrective measures and the supply was normalised for around four days. However, soon the problem returned.Borkar alleged that the department has installed a booster pump but at a wrong place where there is no issues. The booster pump was needed to be installed to their pipeline and now the engineer has agreed to install another such pump to their line, he said. When asked, Saraf said only few houses located at the high lying areas are suffering the water scarcity and he will install a booster pump to redress the issue.
