Pune: Khadakwasla MLA Bhimrao Tapkir on Thursday said in the assembly nearly 25 villages were facing connectivity issues after heavy rain swept away a temporary bridge at Malkhed, besides drawing attention of the House towards the flooding in Ektanagari.The issue of heavy rain damaging roads in some parts of the state came up for discussion in the assembly on Thursday. The PWD minister, Shivendrasinh Bhonsle, said roads were damaged in some places after the heavy rain lashed Pune, Raigad and Satara districts in particular. “Our department is assessing the damage and the repair work will start soon,” the minister said.BJP MLA Tapkir mentioned about the temporary bridge being swept away near Malkhed. He said, “The work of ring road is underway in the area and the contractors concerned have the responsibility of maintaining roads connecting remote villages. The bridge was swept away because of substandard work. Over 25 villages are facing connectivity issues with the rest of the district now.”Responding to Tapkir’s question, minister Bhonsle said, “The MSRDC (Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation) is carrying out the work. Our department officials will contact the MSRDC officials to ensure that the bridge is repaired at the earliest and the connectivity is restored.”Tapkir also highlighted the flooding in Ektanagari on Sinhagad Road and said, “Ektanagari and Vitthalnagar residential areas were flooded after water was released from the dam at the rate of 27,000 cusec. These residential areas face the problem of flooding every year. Residents are waiting for an urgent solution from the govt.”
