Kolkata: Two separate road accidents in the Beniapukur police station area have claimed the lives of two pedestrians within 24 hours.In the first incident, an auto driver who was on his first trip out in the city after arriving from Delhi, hit a 60-year-old unidentified woman with his vehicle on Friday near the main gate of the Lower Circular Road Cemetery on AJC Bose Road.The auto was being driven by 29-year-old Md Sahbaz. Although the driver rushed her to CNMC Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries in the emergency ward. Police have arrested the accused.In another incident on Saturday, a 52-year-old pedestrian, Biswajit Kar of Rai Charan Pal Lane in Topsia was struck by an unidentified speeding vehicle at Darga Road. The driver sped away. Kar was rushed to Manicktala ESI Hospital, where medical officers declared him brought dead.
