Ahmedabad: The northern limit of monsoon stretched through Dahanu and Wardha in Maharashtra, close to the Gujarat border, on Tuesday. The forecast indicates that conditions are favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into the coastal areas of Gujarat and parts of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh over the next two to three days. The state is currently experiencing an upper-air cyclonic circulation over north Gujarat, along with a trough from central Uttar Pradesh to north Gujarat and across Rajasthan.According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely in some parts of south Gujarat and coastal Saurashtra for the next few days. On Tuesday, 19 talukas experienced 1mm or more of rainfall, especially those in South Gujarat.On Tuesday, Ahmedabad recorded a maximum temperature of 40.4°C, 2.5 degrees above normal, and a minimum temperature of 29.2°C, 1.6 degrees above normal. The city experienced partly cloudy weather with high humidity. The city’s maximum temperature is likely to be around 40°C on Wednesday.Other cities and towns that recorded temperatures of 40°C or above on Tuesday included Gandhinagar and Rajkot at 40.5°C, and Surendranagar and Kandla at 40°C. No major change in temperatures are likely in the state for the next few days
