MUMBAI: Two Parsi-owned bungalows, which are part of two housing societies in the prime Perry Cross Road area off Carter Road in Bandra (W), will be razed and redeveloped by Supreme Universal.The early 20th century bungalows, Gladhurst and Kavas Lodge, are on land belonging to Wavelash and Sunbeam societies. These are the latest in a long list of bungalow properties that will go under the hammer. A slew of old Bandra bungalows have been demolished and replaced by luxury towers.Supreme’s Sunny Bijlani told TOI plans are afoot to build 2 luxury towers with every flat having a private terrace. “This 1-acre plot is the largest on the Carter Road coastline,” he said, adding the sale potential of the project is about Rs 1,500cr. “Envisioned as one of the tallest towers in the neighbourhood, the development will offer expansive ocean views and residences designed around privacy, open spaces & lifestyle-led experiences,” Supreme said in a statement.The two bungalows have four Parsi tenants, who have signed separate agreements with the developer.In Bandra (W), bungalow properties are the most sought after. Last month, actor John Abraham bought a Parsi-owned bungalow built in 1926 at St Martin street for Rs 84 crore. However, it is learned that the actor plans to retain the bungalow, and not demolish it.In June last, Franklin House, an Edwardian-style bungalow built in 1920 on St Auxilium Road in the upscale residential enclave of Pali Hill, was bought by Aspect Realty’s Mohit Kamboj. Work has already begun to build a high-end luxury tower. And last year, JSW Realty, part of the $24 billion JSW Group, signed a development agreement with the Gore family, which owns the half-acre, heritage-listed Taj Villa near Otters Club on Carter Road. JSW will restore the 1930s-built villa and build a luxury residential tower behind it.
