AMC’s roads and buildings committee met on Monday and made it mandatory to install such signboards.The signboards are to be set up before the first bill is cleared. Among other details, signboards must mention the defect liability period, the contractor’s phone number, and AMC’s toll-free number.Previously, AMC regulations stipulated that signboards showing details such as start and end dates, the contractor’s name, and the defect liability period be placed after the completion of resurfacing works.Jainik Vakil, the chairman of the AMC’s roads and buildings committee, stated: “Signboards must detail the road, zone, and ward names too.”Photographs of these signboards — installed at starting and ending points of a roadworks site— must also be uploaded to the AMC website, Vakil said.“The final payment will be processed only after thorough photo and video verification. If any timeline revisions occur during construction, the contractor must install an updated signboard,” Vakil said. “The contractor will be responsible for maintaining the signboard throughout the defect liability period.”
