Times News NetworkMargao: The Ganesh coupon frenzy that has gripped Kushavati district through this festive season reached its most frenetic pitch yet on Sunday, as day-1 of donation coupon sales by the Sangampur Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal drew a serpentine queue at the municipal guest house in Khairikhatem, Sanguem, keeping police on their toes through the day to manage the crowd.Coming close on the heels of Quepem and Sanvordem mandals rolling out their own coupon schemes—one offering a BMW X3 and Rs 45 lakh cash, the other a fleet of hatchbacks and SUVs—the Sangampur mandal has gone a step further this year, dangling three flats as its top prizes instead of the customary cars.The first prize is a 2BHK at Kayji Palladium near Power House, Margao, followed by a 2BHK in Ponda’s Kurtarkar Nagari complex for second and a 2BHK in South Meadows at Nondurlim, Sanguem, for third. Rounding off the list are 18 more prizes, including a Toyota Hycross 7S, a Mahindra XEV 9S, a Tata Sierra EV, an E-Vitara EV, a Kia Seltos diesel, and an MG Windsor Pro, besides Tata Punch and Tiago EVs, Maruti Breeza VXi Turbos, and Citroen C3s.Residents from across the state turned up in large numbers through the day, many queuing for hours to buy the coupons, with the prospect of walking away with a flat proving the biggest draw. The mandal’s “mahaprasad” coupons were formally opened on Saturday, with sales commencing from Sunday.
