Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad citizens will soon find it far easier to report broken roads, potholes, cave-ins, and footpath damage, with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) set to launch an AI-driven grievance redressal system by the end of Aug. The new mechanism will allow residents to register complaints through multiple channels, including the AMC Seva App, the CCRS App, WhatsApp, phone calls, email, and social media. The process has been designed for simplicity: citizens only need to click and upload a photograph of the problem. The system will detect the GPS location, eliminating the need for residents to manually identify their zone or ward. This also helps prevent duplicate entries for the same recurring issue.According to Jainik Vakil, chairman of AMC’s road and building committee, the moment a photo is uploaded, the system identifies the exact zone, ward, and location using GPS data, and routes the complaint to the concerned official. He noted that even the complaint category will be selected through artificial intelligence, removing manual classification delays.Citizens will instantly receive a complaint token on WhatsApp, and once the issue is fixed, they will get a closure message along with “before and after” photographs as proof of resolution. To access these features, citizens must complete a one-time registration on either the AMC Seva App or the CCRS App.Vakil further explained that if multiple people report the same problem from one location, AI-based clustering will merge these into a single entry, speeding up resolution and cutting down redundant fieldwork. For citizens who call in complaints without knowing their exact zone or ward, the system will rely on Google-based landmark data and GIS mapping to pinpoint the location and forward it to the concerned official.Importantly, the AI system will not replace existing complaint channels but will work alongside them, ensuring citizens can use whichever medium is most convenient — app, WhatsApp, phone, email, or social media.Officials say this initiative reflects AMC’s broader push toward leveraging technology for faster, more transparent civic governance.
