Colva: Additional sessions judge Ram S Prabhu Dessai on Tuesday denied bail to Mangala alias Vaibhavi Sidnal, who was arrested by Colva police in March 2024 for allegedly killing her husband, Vishwanath Sindal, in connivance with Suraj Myageri on the eve of Holi.The prosecution relied on the testimony of the prime witness, the accused’s minor daughter, who was six years old at the time of the incident. The judge observed that in her deposition, the child had clearly stated that both accused assaulted her father with a spade on his head and other parts of his body. She also deposed that after the incident, the accused took her to Belagavi on her father’s scooter.The judge said the evidence and material on record prima facie indicated Mangala’s active involvement in the crime. He observed that the material furnished reasonable grounds to believe that she was guilty of an offence punishable with death or imprisonment for life.“The seriousness and heinous nature of the crime involved is another significant factor to be considered to reject the bail,” the judge said.
