Chennai: AMMK general secretary T T V Dhinakaran on Saturday criticised chief minister C Joseph Vijay’s handling of the recurring fishermen crisis and urged the state and Union govts to take concrete steps towards a permanent solution.Dhinakaran alleged that Vijay had done little beyond writing routine letters to the Centre. Before the elections, Vijay had criticised previous govts for “writing letters to the Centre and going to sleep” whenever fishermen were arrested, he said. However, three months after assuming office, Vijay had adopted the same approach without delivering results, Dhinakaran alleged. His statement came in the backdrop of protests by Rameswaram fishermen against the detention of 11 fishermen and the seizure of their boats by the Sri Lankan Navy.
