Stop pointing fingers at me, question Vijay instead: Thiruma

Chennai: VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan on Thursday hit back at critics questioning his political decisions, asking why they always targeted him instead of other political leaders, including chief minister C Joseph Vijay and former CM M K Stalin.Responding to criticism over VCK joining the TVK-led govt despite his earlier description of Vijay and the party as an “RSS-born child”, Thirumavalavan said the same question should instead be put to Vijay. “They should ask Vijay why he sought the support of a person who had criticised him and called him an RSS-born child. But nobody raises that question,” he said addressing the new inductees into the party.Referring to his remarks after May 21 that VCK continues to maintain cordial ties with DMK, Thiruma said he was repeatedly questioned on how the party could do so after joining the TVK cabinet. He countered by asking why Vijay was not questioned for visiting Stalin to seek his blessings after describing DMK as an “evil force”. He also asked why Stalin was not questioned for receiving Vijay.Accusing sections of the media of singling him out, Thiruma said his statements were often taken out of context and misinterpreted to create sensationalism. “Without considering the context and timing of my remarks, my views are given a different meaning,” he said.Thiruma also took a swipe at Vaiko. “Some even recommend us for Noble prize,” he said without taking out the name of Vaiko, who mocked the VCK leader for his remark on continuing a cordial relationship with the DMK.On DMK-led front electoral performance, he said that VCK had played a crucial role and aided DMK to win 59 seats. But none would give credit for VCK as there was a strong dislike for the party as it represented the downtrodden castes.
