RKM Hostels Empty Out As Students Leave For Home
Students of Ramakrishna Mission are leaving campus on Saturday

Kolkata: Students in classes V to X at Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya returned home on Saturday after the residential school announced it would shut down from July 5 for an indefinite period. The closure follows allegations of negligence regarding the death of class XII student Diptangshu Mahato. Mission authorities will conduct an introspection into the incident during this period, and a parent and teacher meeting will be held before classes resume.Parents of students in classes V to X at RKM arrived on Saturday to collect their children. Several looked upset upon learning aboutthe incident. One parent of a class V student, who came from Falta, said, “My son took admission this year only. So, it is quite obvious that initially we would get anxious, especially my wife. However, today I spoke to the secretary Maharaj and requested him to look into the matter so that such a thing is not repeated, and he assured us.”Paramita Dutta, the parent of a class X student, who travelled from Jalpaiguri, said, “This was a very upsetting incident and it hasimpacted all of us”Many students expressed that they wanted the school to reopen soon. The mission authorities are likely to issue a detailed guideline for boarders.
