Panaji: The Goa police’s crime branch raided an area near a resort at Calangute in the early hours of Thursday, arresting one man and rescuing one female survivor in an anti-human trafficking operation led by crime branch SP, Jivba Dalvi.Punna Hari Prasad, 33, currently residing at Tambudki, Arpora, and originally from Telangana, was apprehended after being caught arriving on a scooter to hand over the woman to prospective customers for prostitution.Based on a complaint filed by police inspector Vikas Deykar, the crime branch police station registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956. Prasad was arrested. Further investigation is under way.The operation involved PI Deykar, PI Tushar Lotlikar, PI Mahesh Gadekar, and NGO ARZ members Roshni Shirodkar, Sejal Dalvi, and Sneha Chari.
